What do they say about it not raining but pouring?
On Sunday night at some inopportune moment my motherboard blew a capacitor. This is a terminal thing so on Monday off I trundled to the computer shop for a new motherboard. By the time I came out of the place at the other end of that day, I had a new motherboard, a new 1Gb of RAM (the old RAM was no longer “compatible”), and a new 80Gb HD (I just wanted more room to move).
Then I got back home on Monday night and managed to uninstall the wrong program which totally killed my OS! Well, to cut a long story short, it took me more than another 24hrs just to get Windows XP reinstalled correctly. HINT to the uninitiated: always keep your original XP CD and you original XP license key together… 
But the good news about all this is that I now have to fresh installs of Win XP SP2 with a nice new theme and whatnot. Plus Karen’s machine now boasts the old C Drive from my machine - all 13Gb of it which is tons for her! So we’re all happy. Poorer by about $600 but happy!
