Ok, is David Allen perving in on my life?
You can do anything - but not everything.
This is an article in FastCompany, one of my favourite mags. It’s just SO spot on for me that I’m really freaked out by it.
I’ve been blaming my lack of productivity, overall frazzledness with life, and general sense of defeat on ADHD (which is no doubt a factor), but what about the general effect of the 21st Century?
What Allen says makes me realise I am not alone. This is not my peculiar problem… this is the problem of the 21st Century web-soaked knowledge worker, of which I am a prime example.
I really need to read the book!

Alister, Thanks for the link to Dave’s FastCo article. I bought his book but haven’t had time to read it yet! Like your blog.
I AM A 57 YEAR OLD MALE & HAVE ACCORDING TO MY BRAIN SCAN THE MOST SEVERE BRAIN DISSFUNCTION THAT MY DOCTOR HAD EVER SEEN, IN THE THREE COUNTRIES THAT HE HAD PRACTICED IN. HOWEVER I DONT THINK IN ANY WAY, THAT I NEED TO USE THIS AS AN EXCUSE FOR ANYTHING.
BUT ON THE OTHER HAND I FEEL IF I DIDN’T HAVE ADHD I COULD NOT DO ALL THAT I CAN DO. I AM GIFTED IN MANY WAYS BECAUSE OF MY ADHD & I WISH OTHER PEOPLE COULD JUST CONCENTRATE ON THE POSITIVE SIDE TO ADHD & STOP THINKING THEY HAVE A PROBLEM.
REGARDS
ROBERT WARD.
Robert, I’d encourage you to read Dan Hartmann. Can’t remember his book/s offhand, but they might really help your thinking further… about yourself and about ADHD.
Just Google “Dan Hartmann ADHD” and you’ll find him.
Cheers,
- Alister
