Last week, for a day or so, Google pretty much forgot about my blog. *gasp*
Keywords and keyword phrases that I ranked really well on… well, they just disappeared. And my referral traffic from Google slowed to a pathetic trickle.
I was more than a little worried. Yes, I know Google can do weird things for short periods of time, but I needed more reassurance than that.
So I turned to my “Swiss Army Knife of Search”, Brent Hodgson. He’s a colleague and buddy of mine, and he knows more about SEO, web copywriting, online marketing and stuff like that than most people will know in a lifetime. He’s one of our secret weapons, here at Alliance Software.
Brent helped me get over my “freak out” and sure enough, a few hours later, I reappeared in Google’s SERPs, ranking as well or even better than before.
But Brent tells it a lot better than I do, so mosey on over to his blog for the detailed story on my freak out and how Brent was able to prove I had nothing to fear…

…now where did I put that corkscrew?
Thanks Al, you’re too kind
So glad you posted this because the same thing just happened to me. Haven’t been doing anything shady, so I’m guessing things will soon go back to normal, but it is a freaky feeling.
I’m experiencing this right now. Traffic dropped overnight. My posts dropped its rankings for my keywords. I’m not doing anything shady. So, I’m hoping it will return back to normal in a few days just like what happened to yours.
